Our service of worship begins at 10:00 AM and usually lasts for around an hour. We follow a pattern of worship that stays relatively the same each week. Sometimes we have an altered pattern if it’s a special service such as the celebration of the Lord’s Supper (also known as Communion or the Eucharist) or a special holiday service like Christmas Eve, Good Friday, or Easter Sunday.
We open our service of worship with the Recognition of Territory. We believe in the importance of territorial acknowledgement of the lands upon which we gather for worship. We gather on the lands of the Onkwehonwe, (Human Beings Forever), with whom we are the people of the Upper Canada Treaties of 1764 to 1836. May we live with respect on this land, and live in peace, justice, and friendship with its varied peoples.
Our service of worship follows a printed order of service with a variety of elements including prayers, hymns, a reading from the Bible, reflections from the minister, and faith sharing from the congregation. We project slides onto a screen to aid in following along to responsive prayers or hymns, and sometimes the children take part in worship as well through “Time for the Young at Heart”
You are invited to participate as you are able, especially in regards to faith sharing. Sometimes the spirit moves us to share deep moments of faith and other times, we keep that moment for silent meditation. Whatever you are comfortable with, we hope that you will feel welcome to join us.
Following the service of worship, we share a time of fellowship together. It’s a great time to say hello to one another and meet those who are in the community. We often offer refreshments following the service and you are welcome to partake.
